OKFocus is a forward thinking, technology driven agency based in New York City. We implement cutting edge technologies in culturally conscious ways. As children of the information age, we understand the deep impact genre defining internet products can have – creating such a thing is our paramount goal. We have worked for companies such as Google, Smirnoff and Flamingo, cultural institutions such as MOCA, New Museum and The MET and artists such as Tanlines, Nicola Formichetti and MIA – realizing our forward thinking concepts with cutting edge code. We are artists, designers and programmers with the ability to see advanced projects through each stage of development. As a young company we are optimistic for the future and driven by innovation. Client Work

• Tanlines, Not The SameFeb.2013 Launch Site

  Commissioned by The Creators Project, we created a interactive Alpha Channel HTML5 video experiment for True Panther Records artist, Tanlines. The site mimics Photoshop's interface – making for a culturally aware website, no manual required.

• Metropolitan Museum of ArtJan.2013 Launch Site

  We used advanced JavaScript techniques to create this front page animation for Metropolitan Museum of Art project, 82nd and Fifth. The animation evolves over a year as curators add new features to the site. Commissioned by our awesome friends at CHIPS–NY.

• British AirwaysMar.2013 Launch Site

  Site for British Airways & Visit Britain's The Big British Invite. Styled after a boarding pass, the site provides a non-traditional, on brand, way to RSVP to their promo party. Party goers receive an email with their "ticket" to attend, the backend figures out the rest. Commissioned by our dashing friends at Extra Extra.

• Flamingo, ObsessionNov.2012 Launch Site

  We created a site to house the annual report of house leading edge trend forecasting company, Flamingo. The site allows readers to connect with Twitter and come download their bespoke selection of articles – effectively making their own unique version. The site runs on a custom built CMS.

• Nicola FormichettiMay.2012 Launch Site

  Website utilizing fancy JavaScript and forward thinking design for Nicola Formichetti's company Two Hustlers. Nicola is Lady Gaga's stylist, fashion director of Mugler and creative director of Uniqlo. The site heavily relies on our in-house developed Plug-in, OKVideo.

• Svpply, Tug of StoreMay.2012 Launch Site

  Svpply is a service that lets users keep track of products they love and discover new products. They asked us to create something captivating for the launch of their API. Tug of Store is a real-time game using Websockets and Node JS where users decide if a product is cool or crap.

• Google, Draw With Your FaceApr.2012 Launch Site

  Commissioned by Google, we made this Hangsouts game with Aaron Meyers that allows players to draw with their face while opponents try to guess the drawing's subject. Think Pictionary or Draw Something but with more faces and funny sounds.

• MOCA, Ends of The EarthMay.2012 Launch Site

  For MOCA's seminal Land Art exhibit, Ends of The Earth, we created a site heavily using Google Maps API, allowing viewers to traverse the world viewing the works in the exhibition as they get background info on each work.

• Item Idem, Concept CartFeb.2012 Launch Site

  E-commerce site as portfolio for artist/designer Item Idem. Inspired by design patterns from online shopping, visitors are invited to make a conceptual investment by adding Idem's projects and objects to the Concept Cart, which leads to a simulated checkout process.

• M.I.A. /\/\/\YASep.2010 Launch Site

  Microsites linked to the launch of M.I.A.'s album Maya. Use your webcam on Facefacefacebook, which uses face detection to hide your appearance. Mixtape Vicki Leekx has listeners hunting for her music on a giant-sized Google map.

• Smirnoff, Dance ExchangeNov.2012 Launch Site

  Smirnoff's Nightlife Exchange was one night and one global party. The Dance Exchange was an effort to share how people dance. Guests at parties on three continents entered a special booth, which made a short GIF of their dance moves and rebroadcasted it around the world.

• Reed+RaderApril.2012 Launch Site

  Website for artists/animators Reed + Rader. Site uses CSS3 animations to give thumbnails a responsive 3D feel within the space.

• Liberty Science CenterApr.2012 Launch Site

  Built for the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, Science Near You presents a clickable map filled with science activities suitable for the whole family. Enter your address and filter by distance, age group, and activity type.

• Franc FernandezNov.2012 Launch Site

  Heavily tricked out site (lots and lots of JavaScript ninja stuff) built on Tumblr for designer of Lady Gaga's famous meat dress, Franc Fernandez. Click and drag to explore his amazing portfolio. We also released this as a Tumblr theme.

• David MushegainJune.2012 Launch Site

  Website for photographer David Mushegain built on Tumblr. David told us that he likes both black and white color schemes, so we added the option for users to invert the theme at will. Using Tumblr as a CMS is a great solution for lightweight portfolio sites.

• Movie Meets MovieMar.2013 Launch Site

  Frontend & Backend development for site commissioned by Chris Baker. Users combine two movies to deconstruct a third film. The site pulls from a movie database and allows users to login via Facebook to save their "deconstructions."

• SoundCloud DJJan.2012 Launch Site

  Become a mixmaster with SoundCloud DJ! In house OKFocus webapp that allows you to DJ using high-quality SoundCloud tracks. Built using the SoundCloud API, crafted using mixology, high quality dubs and that good kush.

• OverlayerNov.2012 Launch Site

  Build from the ground up, this full social network built on technology that adds custom user generated overlays to your webcam. Features exclusive overlays from Pinar & Viola and Major Lazer!. The site features a custom built CMS to control featured content and user accounts created VIA Facebook oAuth.

• &Pencil, iPad AppSep.2012 View App

  We wanted a simple, well designed solution for drawing on the iPad. No frills, no brushes, no effects -- just one easy to use, beautiful interface. The icons were designed by our friend, Travis Sterns. Get the app here!

• My Cat and IJuly.2012 Launch Site

  My Cat and I uses newly developed cat face detection to determine if a cat is present in an image uploaded to the site via webcam or hard drive. If a cat is present the pic of a cat and its owner gets uploaded for the world to see :). The site is based on Kittydar originally developed by Heather Arthur.

• Embed ShitMar.2013 Launch Site

  We kept having to embed videos and Googling all the different parameters to customize the embeds. So we came up with a solution for ourselves and the rest of the world – a simple site that allows users to, Embed Shit. Embedding YouTube, Vimeo or Vine videos just got a whole lot easier.

• Lemme Tweet That For YouMar.2012 Launch Site

  Tweet as anybody, no questions asked. The easiest way to get Justin Bieber to confess his undying love for you in a tweet. The site's aesthetic is intended to mimic the 'non-design' of fun generators popular during myspace times. The site saves all the fake tweets generated and uses a lot of Twitter API.

• Where's the Pixel iPhone AppMay.2012 View App

  After the runaway success of Where's The Pixel on the web, we started seeing pixels everywhere and built an iPhone app to track them down. Features a store where you can buy a bigger pixel.. something most men are too shy to admit they actually want.

• Like FakeApr.2012 Launch Site

  Fake likes aren't just for those who can afford them. Regular Facebook like buttons can break or require endless setup. Use LikeFake to give your website the likes you deserve. The site is a great companion to our other site, Lemme Tweet That For You.

• Art or NotDec.2011 Launch Site

  Our take on the 1990s web standby Hot Or Not? Art or Not uses crowdsourcing and a 10 point rating system to answer that age-old question "but is it art?" Built to coincide with our exhibition of Internet-aware art, LikeArtBasel.

• whodat.bizMar.2012 Launch Site

  "The Facebook of Websites" -- 100,000 hits in one day. What other digital studio do you know that got a cease and desist from Kanye West? The site now features a cease and desist sent to us from Kanye's lawyer.. but if you're begging to see the original you can check it out here :)

• OKMove, TumblrMar.2012 Launch Site

  Exploring Z-space with 3D transforms, OKMove turns a Tumblr from a scrolling webpage into a zooming stack of images. Install it on your Tumblr, wow your friends! The theme uses really fancy JavaScript and CSS3 stuff.

• dump.fm2010-NOW Launch Site

  The first ever real-time image chat community. Has been attributed to being a critical element of the second wave net-art movement. The site has been responsible for the Deal With It meme and has been an important network for the greatest net artists in the world.

• OKZoom, PluginJan.2012 Get Plugin

  
  JQuery plugin creates a magnifying glass so you can inspect details on a large image without taking up the entire screen. The plugin is used nicely all over the beautifully designed e-com site, Wantful. Move the mouse over the face of Benoit Mandelbrot to see it in action! Get it here!

• Pixel Comic Sans, FontOct.2011 Get Font

  Everyone knows that Comic Sans MS is the greatest font ever – so how do you take the greatest thing and make it even better? Call OKFocus. This meticulously constructed Open Type font is imbued with copious amounts of internet for your graphic pleasure.

• Content HideMar.2012 Hide Content

  Free your web experience from all that distracting content. The Content Hide Plugin hides all of the text and images on a website, letting you see the visual structure underneath. Built as a bookmarklet, works on any webpage.

• OKShadow, PluginOct.2011 Launch Site

  With OKShadow, use your cursor as a light source to cast shadows from ordinary HTML. The Plugin works for HTML elements and text. Mouse around the image above to see it work. Developers, please use the plugin on your next web project and send us a link!
